My home is a large two storey brick and concrete structure with large areas of glass and tiled floors etc. It is an individual design and as such had its own special construction problems. This being a very difficult job having operating business on either side, fronting the main road with pedestrian traffic and the hardware business continuing through the duration of the job. I have known John and his wife Sandy for approximately 40 years and their six children all their lives. It's been a pleasure to watch John's success in regularly winning Australian surf ski titles and then being honoured as a Life Member of Avoca Beach Surf Life Saving Club.   “Unfortunately I am unable to attend the official opening of the Avoca Beach Surf Club, however from my involvement during construction the following observations deserve mention. Although I have been involved in numerous Concil projects over the years I have never witnessed such a high level of enthusiasm and commitment from all involved. The passion for the project shown by the builder and his team of mainly local trades and suppliers as well as the level of leadership shown by the Building Committee has provided a facility of a particularly high standard that has exceeded all expectations in relation to the level of achievement.   “The terrace unit we stayed in over the Christmas period was beautifully finished to a high standard of appliances and comfort. Our hosts Denise & Ross were very helpful and friendly. We enjoyed a great week with a flat walk to the beach, a good bottle shop close by and the bbq was a fantastic size. The only problem we had was when we had to leave, we didn't want to go, it wasn't long enough! The modern architecture of the apartments was unique and interesting in design. A great place lovingly built.”#
